My loyal nimrodians...

In the past I have given you the 100 coolest movies of all time, the 10 worst sequels of all time, Last time out I told you 10 reasons I LOVE AOTC... and if you give me time I will come up with 5 reasons why you love the mighty NIMROD!

My point: People LOVE lists. People love rankings. I never get more e-Mail than when I do a list. I get people agreeing, I get people disagreeing, I get people who hate me... I get response. Me likey response. It shows you are paying attention :)

With that said I would like to inform you that I am doing 10 top 10 lists - the first one was last week you can get to the link here. HEY BILL! INSERT AOTC TOP 10 LINK HERE (Done - BC).

This week will be the second list out of the ten... next week will be #3 out of 10 AND SO ON, AND SO ON, AND SO ON.... get it?

So this week I will give you....................

NIMRODS TOP 10 MEMBERABLE IMAGES IN THE STAR WARS SAGA

10- Vader on his knees in front of Palpatines Hologram in Empire Strikes Back. So ingrained our beloved saga is that THIS image was used in an Energizer Battery commercial. Yes, like the Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin and the Who... our classic had been tainted with the selling of product. Of course, or saga has been selling products for years but more of it was Star Wars related in nature (toys & memorabilia) or were used as a fast food/soft drink selling tool. They used this excellent image to sell batteries and it WORKED! I still buy Energizer batteries to power my light saber!!

9- Star Destroyer in pursuit over Tatooine in the opening scene of Episode IV:ANH. It was the first image of Star Wars and it is a memorable one. It never gets old!

8- Anakin lobs the head off of a Tuskin in Clones. I knew I would love this shot when I read the spoilers. This is the first real image of Anakin turning to Vader. GOOD STUFF. While I am sure that the shot prior to this one, you know.... the one with the death of Shmi. I am sure that was supposed to be an emotional and memorable image but that scene fell a little flat for me. Don't get me wrong, it works for me... it just is not a stand out image. The anger in Anakins face as he hacks toward the head of that Tuskin, however, is a very chilling image.

7- Anakin says goodbye to Shmi in Episode One - Were the Shmi death scenes fails, this scene delivers. Anakin saying goodbye, his mother trying to appear strong, slave quarters of Tatooine in the background, this is a very Star Wars looking shot and it almost defines TPM in a single image.

6- "You were right Luke, tell your sister you were right." Return of the Jedi - After the mask is lifted Anakin dies in Lukes arms as the son has helped to redeem the father. Heck of a lasting image for me... it gets more powerful every time I see it.

5- In ESB Leia looks at Han as he is being lowered into the carbon freezing and says "I love you"- Han looks at here and replies "I know" THIS IMAGE HAUNTED ME AS A CHILD. Han was always my favorite and I was angry and bewildered - to this day that image stands out to me as a defining visual in our beloved saga.

4- Boba Fett holds the helmet of his recently decapitated father in AOTC - This shot alone should make you RUN to the theater to watch Clones again. (While you still can)

3- Vader shaking his fist at Luke and proclaiming "I AM YOUR FATHER" in ESB - This was THE movie shocker of 1980. Nobody saw it coming and it hit you like a sledge hammer. An image that really helps to define the character of Darth Vader.

2 - "That's no moon, that's a space station" ANH - Looking at Han, Chewie, Ben and Luke in the cockpit of the Falcon is almost THE MEMBERABLE image of the first Star Wars film we saw. I have the magnet on my refrigerator. It is only surpassed by our number one pick as the most MEMBERABLE shot in the Star Wars saga

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!

1- "I guess I am going nowhere" Luke looks at the twin suns of Tatooine. He looks like a young man longing to get off that rock, a boy looking for adventure... or maybe he just has a little gas (Beru ain't the best cook) Whatever it is about this shot... whenever I see it... it basically DEFINES Star Wars for me. This is the one image that is as pure Star Wars as there will ever be.
