The good, the bad, the Star Wars

In preparation for "Andor" coming to Disney+ on Sept 21st, "Rogue One" returned to theaters in IMAX this past week. Here are the positives and negatives I had with that.

THE GOOD

Seeing the film in IMAX is truly quite spectacular, and something not to be missed.

Experiencing ANY Star Wars film on the big screen is an event I always try to partake in, multiple times if possible.

An exclusive poster for "Andor" was given out with your ticket purchase.

As "Rogue One" is one of my favorite SW films, this was truly a special event for me.

There was a segment, including a trailer for "Andor" before the film, and that all was 10 minutes long!

THE BAD

Even though this film came out over five and a half years ago, seeing it in IMAX meant one must shell out at least $20.00 each time to see it, unless they're attending a matinee. When they brought this film back into theaters last year for Disney+ Day, even though it wasn't in IMAX, the cost was only $5.00.

I saw it on Fri, went to another theater Sat night and they already had no more exclusive posters to hand out.

The times for the film are rather odd. One theater's last showing is at 7:30, another's at 7:15, there is a theater that has a 9:30 show, but it's 13 miles away.

The film is 2 hours & 22 minutes in length, but one theater has showings at 1:00 and 7:30? Would like to be able to see it twice in one day, but there's a 3+ hour gap in between screenings which makes that rather difficult.

I've seen it 2x so far “this time around". Want to see it more, but prior obligations (yardwork, have a concert to go to Thu night, etc... ) may not make that possible.

If you don't have an IMAX screen near you, you're out of luck. My friend Eric & his wife Amanda had to drive @45 miles to come down and see it. (Thank goodness she didn't go into labor during that time!)

------

All in all, I'm glad it came back to theaters, and I'm glad I got to be a part of its return. Who knows when we'll have another SW film on the big screen, so I'll take what I can get and be happy with it.

Hopefully next week I can get back to my report on SWC, I have 2 days left to fill everyone in on! So, enjoy what's left of the summer and make the most out of the upcoming holiday weekend. Take care and MTFBWYA!
