Rensi's top 5 of Toy Fair

So as if picking him up and dropping him off at the airport wasn't good enough and my live, up to date Facebook reporting didn't cut it, I have been asked by the great Bill Cable to submit an article about my Toy Fair Top 5...

#5 - Revell
Nothing is more America than a good comeback story. These guys were tucked away in a booth and to be honest we almost missed them, if it wasn't for our eagle-eyed companion Yehuda from theSWCA.com. Once spotted, they were happy to talk about there line of models celebrating the 40th anniversary of Empire Strikes Back and the companies larger fight to come back from near bankruptcy. I love the fact the new models come complete with new Revell branded model paint and include a bonus mini-poster. Welcome back Revell

#4 - New Zealand Mint
These guys are quickly becoming one of my favorite booths to hit. The well-priced, high quality silver offerings are full of great detail and quite honestly display really well. Their Chewbacca coin is on my short list to pick up for collection. Their new Death Trooper offering stuck out to me this year.

#3 - Hasbro
YOU WOULD HAVE MADE IT HIGHER HAD YOU INVITED US HASBRO! WHY WON'T YOU LET US LOVE YOU HASBRO! WE'RE NOT JEDITEMPLEARCHIVES AND GOING TO BE DICKS CAUSE YOU DIDN'T FINALLY GIVE US A SCREEN ACCURATE FIGURE OF THAT 3RD SENATOR FROM THE LEFT IN PHANTOM MENACE WITH 30 POINTS OF ARTICULATION. CREATURECANTINA.COM LOVES YOUR RETRO FIGURES. WE APPRECIATE HOW YOU'RE USING HASBRO PULSE TO FIX YOUR DISTRIBUTION ISSUES WHICH HAVE ALWAYS BEEN YOUR ACHILLES HEEL. HELL, I WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU RE-RELEASE THE VINTAGE COLLECTION SLAVE 1 I PREORDERED IT ON THE SPOT ON THE SHOW ROOM FLOOR. DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH AMMO $160 COULD HAVE BOUGHT ME! INVITE US IN NEXT YEAR HASBRO, YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

#2 - Metal Earth
Another favorite company of mine. They've come a long, long way from their first 3D Metal Models, and not that their added color to nearly all their designs, is a huge plus. The sad part is I have a few of these sets sitting in my desk at home, just begging to be assembled. I even might pick up their non-Star Wars offerings.

Before I get to Number 1, two honorable mentions in Lego, as their Razor's Crest Mandalorian Set is simply superb and Diamond Select. Any fears or concerns about their handling of Gentle Giant after acquiring them last year should be put to rest for good. Diamond Select will honor what came before and work hard to ensure what's released next will be twice as nice.

And now Steve Rensi's #1 from Toy Fair 2020....

#1 - PILLOW PETS!

Why? Well nothing to do with the company really... you see my dirty little secret is seeing all the new Star Wars products and walking the show room floor is not the primary reason I enjoy going to Toy Fair every year. By far and away, I go to Toy Fair to spend time and hangout with friends I have long ago adopted as family. And so when my bestest and greatest buddy Bill Cable was chosen to win a Pillow Pet Chewbacca and graciously and without selfish though immediately gave it me, that camaraderie made my Toy Fair #1 hands down.

So until next year folks, stay frosty gents!
