New Zealand figure lot
I purchased this lot of figures from the original owner. All
were purchased in New Zealand 20 years ago and are 100% authentic.
A common feature among all the cardbacks is a duller finish,
both front and back, than their US counterparts. Another is the
thinner, Tri-logo-esque plastic of the bubbles. Please see the
photos and descriptions below for complete details. Note that
many of the scans are very large in order to show the details
of condition.
If you're interested in purchasing any of these figures, or
would like more information, please E-mail me at cable@creaturecantina.com.

TolToys ESB 48A-back Original
R2-D2 & C-3PO
These two are the gems of the find. There are MANY differences
between this cardback and the US cardback. First, original R2
and 3PO never appeared on the ESB48A-back card in the US... they
switched to the Removable Limbs 3PO and Sensorscope R2-D2 with
the 45-back. Second, each card features a TolToys manufacturer
info printed on the back... something unseen before. Third, the
POP has been replaced by a "Price" area on the back.
Fourth, there is a PAT # at the bottom of the color area where
the bubble is attached. Fifth, there's an Assortment # in the
top left corner. Sixth, the punch is shaped differently... with
square corners at the bottom. Unfortunately, the 3PO was damaged
in the mail, with the figure breaking through the top of the
bubble.

Bubble |
This R2-D2 features the TolToys info on the cardback. Stress
on the top of the punch. Top of the bubble is crunched. Top right
corner of the bubble is no longer sealed to the card (it's completely
flat, the seal has just come undone). The cardback has a very
slight warp above the bubble on the left side. If you look you'll
see that R2-D2 is packaged backwards (though his face is facing
forwards). You'd be hard-pressed to find a more unique carded
figure.

| SW 21-back Hammerhead w/ non-standard bubble |
Hammerhead

Bubble3
Bubble4 |
The Hammerhead has far and away the most interesting bubble.
There is a lip all the the way around the bubble, so the sides
are not straight, but beveled. There is an additional nob at
the top of the bubble. Someone suggested to me that perhaps the
bubble was attached upside down. The bubble has two significant
cracks, one on the left side, and a more serious one along the
bottom of the bubble. There is also a small puncture on the top
of the nob. There is no plastic missing due to these cracks.
The bubble is securely sealed on all edges. The photos on the
left show all bubble flaws in exacting detail. The cardback has
some edgewear, light except for on the bottom two corners where
it is moderate. There is a small paper lift near the picture
of R5-D4 on the back. The figure is in the bubble backwards (an
oddity on top of oddities!).
Price: $110 *SOLD*
Note: I will take special care in packaging this item so no
additional damage occurs to the bubble. If at all possible, I
will work to hand-deliver the item.

ESB 32A-back figures w/
non-standard bubbles
These 3 figures have several things in common. They are all
on US-version 32A cardbacks. The bubbles are all of a lesser-quality
plastic. The bubbles are square. And the bubbles look as if they
were sealed to the card one side at a time, unlike their US counterparts
which are sealed all at once. The waffle pattern extends out
onto the cardback. It's unlike anything I've ever seen, and very
cool!

Bespin Leia

Bubble1 |
This Bespin Leia is a real gem. The cardback is flat and near-flawless.
No edgewear. Minor stress above the punch. Minor paper lift on
the left of the bubble, apparently from when the bubble was attached.
The bubble had no notable damage, and is crystal clear (the photo
make is look slightly yellow, but I think that's just reflection
from the color of her dress). The edge of her cape is sealed
under the edge of the bubble. This is the crew neck version of
the figure.

White Bespin
Guard

Bubble3 |
This Bespin Guard is nice. The cardback is in nice shape,
with only minor edgewear. There is stress above the punch. There's
a little ding on the bottom edge. The top two corners have a
minor curl, with a spider crease on the left side. The bubble
is crunched on the top. The left and right bottom edges are split,
creating a small gap. The cracks are right along the edges. The
face of the bubble is undamaged. The bubble is clear (the photo
makes it look slightly yellow, but I think that's the reflection
from the orange color on the cardback).

FX-7

The FX-7 is also pretty nice. The bubble on FX-7 is slightly
yellow. The bottom right edge has a minor ding, and the top edge
has a more moderate crunch. The face of the bubble has some light
scuffing. The cardback is slightly warped, but flattens out completely
in a Star Case. The bottom left corner has a minor crease. There
is stress above the punch, and a small mark right by the edge
of the punch. There are a few small spots of edge wear. This
cardback features a New Zealand Price sticker $6.75 NZ. Very
cool!
