The FINAL Countdown... Nimrod recovers from C2 Posted by: Ric Nimrod 5-15-02 12:01am Well, here we are. IT IS HERE. Star Wars is here, a new film AND WHAT THE F*%K, the bootleg is all over the place. In fact I HAVE the bootleg, but I refuse to look at it until I see the movie on the big screen. I know everything that is going to happen in this film as I have been a spoiler addict for 3 years now, the actual production and editing is the only thing I have left to be surprised by. Now I regret this... these three years of daily spoilers. They will not ruin the experience for me, I will still be awestruck and I will still tear up when A LONG TIME AGO appears on the screen, but I wish that Wednesday at midnight would hold more surprises for me... that said I have come to a conclusion. I am going into Episode 3, our last Star Wars film EVER, SPOILER FREE. Say it with me loyal Nimrodians SPOILER FREE FOR EPISODE THREE SPOILER FREE FOR EPISODE THREE SPOILER FREE FOR EPISODE THREE Now I know that many of you loyal readers will recall that last fall I wrote a column that sort of bashed the spoiler avioders out there and that I might be called a hypocrite BUT the mighty Nimrod can admit when he is wrong, and my friends... I was wrong. This film is gonna RAWK, it is the Star Wars movie that we have been waiting for (at least it should be, look for my official review next week). I have told you that I believe that the best SW film has yet to be seen AND I believe that (tho EP2 might not be that film) we are in for a treat with the next 2 films. I believe that EP2 will kick the crap out of that record breaking Spider-Man by the end of the summer (And I must tell you that I LOVED Spiderman, THANK YOU SAM RAMI FOR DELIVERING THE GOODS) tho EP2 will not beat the web heads record setting run toward 200 million. I love that the world is so Spider-man drunk right now, that way when EP2 hits the world will be even more surprised. I believe I was wrong for swimming in spoilers for 3 years. I wish I did not know what was coming this week, but I do. It will still be great, but not as great as it COULD be if I had no clue. Nimrod is SPOILER FREE FOR EPISODE THREE! So get ready Nimrodians, the Clones are HERE. Be safe and remember: Do not listen to the critics, they are ALWAYS wrong about SW... go into this film like a child... don't pick it apart (it is SW, there will be plot holes) just sit back and go to that galaxy far far away... THIS WEEK Lucas proves that he is not only back, but he never left. Be excited, be very excited, this movie will deliver. NOW lets talk C2. Like many of you the mighty Nimrod was at Star Wars Celebration Two in Indiana last week and I am not going to talk about the same old review crap that everyone has already read about the event. Yes it was fun and yes it was unorganized... My journey through the event was great and the force was with me strongly. So lets look at the Good the Bad and the Ugly about Nimrods journey at C2. The Good: There is a TON of good, including my NEVER really standing in a line. I got an exhibitors pass as well as a press pass and got in early everyday. Never really waited to get a Sacul figure or anything else. I worked the Celebration and had a blast doing it. I ended up with 15 Saculs and that allowed me to sell them for cost to many of my friends and collecting club members. The room sales at the Omni (the hotel I stayed at) ruled and I got a TON of great deals. I ended up with a Lando ESB proof card and I DEFACED it by having Billy Dee sign it. SEE PIX HERE. I loved doing this because it pissed off so many people that I would deface a perfect proof card with Billy Dees signature, LOL, I love pissing people off. :) By nature the Nimrod is not an autograph guy, I usually feel that if you want to sign something for me... sign the bottom of a check, but I have a weird Lando shrine and thought this would be a great addition to the shrine. It was fun and Billy Dee was a first class dick (I wouldn't have it any other way). While I was in there getting Billy Dee to sign my proof card I used my press pass to hustle no less than 9 new CC SUX celebrities... check them out on our celebrity page. All the shows were great, listening to Carrie speak... Rick Mc preaching the Digital Theater word (he convinced me with his footage and I am seeing it for the first time on a digital projection theater)... all the freaks dressed up... everything that was there for the fans to see was good BUT the best part was the fellowship with old and new friends and an arena full of people that ALL are celebrating Star Wars. The Bad: Well, the lines would have sucked if I had to stand in any of them. No available chicks, if you wanted any sex you had to import your own. My non-smoking hotel room was a little irritating, but my understanding room mates made it very bearable (thanks guys)... come to think of it, there was not that much that was bad on my journey thru C2. The Ugly: Well, a lot of the women were pretty ugly :) On the last day I scored some more Sacul figures and I left my bag at the club I belong to's booth (OSWCC had a fan booth at C2) and boogied around for a while... when I returned some jerky fan had at some point reached over the side of the booth and snagged 2 of my figures out of my bag. DOH All in all C2 was a great time for me, I look forward to C3 (rumored to ALSO be in Indy) The next time we chat my friends, it will be on the OTHER side of Star Wars :) hold onto your sox, this one is gonna kick your ass Nimrod
