REAL FANS love the new trailer!
Posted by: Ric Nimrod 1-30-02 12:01am

Well, the last trailer hit on Sunday and WOW is all I can say. I watched it and I loved it. We have seen four trailers and they have all rocked fairly hard, with this recent one and the DVD exclusive "Mystery" trailer being the strongest of the four.

That said, I have to admit that I am somewhat embarrassed to be a Star Wars fan. Why? Because as a whole, the fans of this franchise are nitpickers. I have heard remarks like "It looked like a cartoon" and "The dialog is still cheesy" or "The music did not fit."

WELL, to all those who are the said pickers of nit the mighty Nimrod says this... Stop being a fan. Go and worship your Lord Of The Rings bootleg (The Mighty Nimrod of course doesn't own one because he's an adamant opponent to bootlegging) and wait for December. Leave Star Wars to those who truly love it.

Everyone thinks THEY know how or what George should do. Well, WHAT IF Lucas actually has a plan? WHAT IF he is actually going to deliver and tell HIS story and try not to abandon his fans? WHAT IF the best Star Wars film has yet to be seen?

I can ALMOST understand the disappointment in EP1. I mean, King George had a lot of story to set up, this kind of FIRST CHAPTER is supposed to set things in motion, and by definition should be the weakest chapter in the saga, as it is mostly set up and character meetings. The shortcomings are not Jar Jar, Jake or the dialog... the shortcomings are the fact that IT HAD TO SET UP 5 films to follow. Fans of the franchise bitch and moan about how it is not the same as the classic trilogy, but IT IS THE SAME... it is just the 30 years earlier and setting up the story. WHAT IF the dialog ALWAYS was cheesy (and it has ALWAYS BEEN), but as a child you did not notice... or care. I am, was and ALWAYS will be a fan of this series NO MATTER how many bad lines are delivered or how many Jar Jars we must endure. The bottom line is that the HEART of the story has never faded, it is in the classic trilogy, it is in EP1 and it will be in EP2.

We are two months away from the next film; this is my favorite time. Everyday I am more anxious than the last, every night I go to bed dreaming of Star Wars... just like I did as a child. I am so excited I could piss myself. ALL of the trailers have shown me that King George has listened to the fans and is going to deliver a great chapter to the saga... unfortunately I have a feeling that the pickers of nit will still find a reason to bitch.
