Potpourri or POT PARTY or
Nimrod knows sh*t about film.

I am going to do a topicless column, just
random thoughts about things. Those of you familiar with the
column know the routine by now so here we go.
* I saw a film called "Josie and the
Pussycats" this week. You may remember the film from its
theatrical release last spring, it has three hot ladies that
are in a band and it is based on characters from "Archie"
comics. The film was marketed to thirteen year old girls and
looked like stoopid, Hollywood drivel. This is VERY far from
the truth. The truth is that this film is VERY smart. It is a
commentary about marketing and it really makes fun of itself.
It is, at times, VERY funny and the music in it is actually cool
in a pop-punk way. And if all that is not enuff to convince you,
the girls are barely dressed and HOT as hell! It is funny and
it makes a great social statement, kind of like a live action
episode of the "Simpson's". GO RENT THIS FILM!
* I saw a press screening of "Jay and Silent Bob Strike
Back" and it was great. NOW allow me to say that if you
do not like dick, fart, gay jokes and you are not familiar with
Kevin Smiths other films, many of the jokes will be lost on you.
The whole film is an inside joke to Smiths fans. The Star Wars
references are plenty and if you like stoopid jokes and are a
fan of Smiths body of work, this film will have you rolling on
the floor from laffing. It is that damn funny.
* Is it unreasonable to think that if somebody says they will
do something by a certain time that it will be done? Why is it
that as a society we have come to expect the opposite?
* Back to Jay & Bob for a second. All of Smiths films have
a meaning at its heart. Clerks is a slacker film about a moment
in life where you sh*t or get off the pot. Mallrats is a statement
about relationships. Chasing Amy is about male insecurity and
Dogma is a PROFOUND statement about religion. J&SBSB had
no clear message after I saw it. But after a little thought and
a barrage of Internet hate mail this week I saw the meaning.
The heart of Jay & Bob Strike Back is an anti-internet message.
The Internet is directly responsible for sending out stoned heroes
on their quest and the film is smarter than I thought in is commentary
of how people act and react to the Internet. First, do not be
so brave because you are anonymous and secondly, and MOST IMPORTANTLY
do not take everything so damn seriously. It is TEXT ON A SCREEN!
No reason to be angry. It really cannot have any real affect
on your life. This in mind never let your emotions get the best
of you because of something you read on the Internet. NOW, go
see J&SBSB this Friday and lets get some good ol' SW fan
BOX OFFICE behind Kevin Smith. I know I will pay to see it this
weekend (even though I saw it for free last week, it is THAT
funny).
* I like the title for Episode Two more every time I hear it.
STAR WARS: EPISODE TWO: ATTACK OF THE CLONES. May it too far
away!
* The new SnaggleTooth looks like little Michael Jackson. Maybe
they used that monkey he used to pal around with as the real-scan.
I am done, C Ya
