SITH STONES AND ANCIENT TOMES

Indy lay at the foot of his bed with feet on the floor, all the recent goings on were causing his head to spin. Finding an ancient stone was one thing, having to do it on worlds he had never heard of, seen, or visited, was something completely different. Every excuse he had tried to give Sidious as to why he was the wrong guy for the job was shot down. He had told him he would need months, maybe years to be able to research the planets he would be visiting, so as to have some idea where to start. Sidious acquiesced, and gave him a month, providing Dr. Jones proved he was indeed using the time for research, and not simply stalling, trying instead to come up with some foolish plan to escape. Indy had no idea how to get from world to world, or even where each system was in comparison to the others. His captor had seen to that also. He was in the process of hiring someone who would transport him wherever he needed to go, within reason of course, and would also serve as his bodyguard. TC-10 was to accompany them; along with some other droid he had yet to meet. TC-10 had been programmed with all pertinent information relating to Revan, Malek, and their compatriots, in addition to having extensive data on the various planets they would travel to, including backgrounds on the indigenous life forms, and historical data relating to the time when the stone was supposedly created. The droid was also quite fluent in numerous forms of communication and would prove to be an excellent interpreter. Whoever this black robed figure was, he had all the bases covered.

The room which adjoined his had been set up with numerous books, tomes, parchments, scrolls, and computer terminals, whatever those were, for him to do his "research". Indy sat up, and ran his fingers through his hair. He realized he probably hadn't had any kind of shower or bath in quite some time. He'd have to ask TC-10 about that next time he saw him, or her, or whatever that...droid was, if it truly could be classified as either male or female. The cold hard truth of the matter was he was going to have to play along with this charade for the time being, and hopefully something would present itself in the way of helping him get out of this mess and get him back to Earth. "Making things up as I go", he thought. Just like old times. He stood up and headed toward the door to the connecting room, then stopped, smelled the air around him, sniffed his clothing, and decided he would start researching AFTER he had cleaned up a bit.

TC-10 showed him to where he could "freshen up", which happened to just be across the hall, and provided him with some temporary apparel while his regular garb was being cleaned. Upon coming out of the refresher and returning to his room, he was met by another silver platter of food sitting on his table, this time it looked something like a sandwich. He picked it up, sniffed it, took a bite, shrugged, and headed off to start studying.

Minutes turned into hours, which became days, and then two weeks had gone by like nothing. There truly was a lot to learn in relation to this...Revan and Malek. After Malek had betrayed Revan, and he ended up in the hands of the Jedi, they used their powers to wipe away part of his memory so when he came to, he had forgotten he was a recently deposed Dark Lord of the Sith. He, along with a Republic soldier named Carth Onasi, crash-landed on a planet called Taris. From there, they began their search for a Jedi named Bastila Shan, a human female who, over the course of their adventures together searching for the star maps, may or may not have had romantic entanglements with Revan. By the time they all left Taris, just before Malek had the entire city blown up, they were joined by a young Twi'lek girl named Mission Vao, and her Wookie friend Zaalbar, who had sworn a life debt to Revan for rescuing him from Gamorrean slavers. Also along for the ride were a stout utility droid named T3-M4, and a Mandalorian soldier named Canderous Ordo, who had been working as a mercenary for some Tarisian crime lord named Davik since the end of the war. As they made their way from world to world, they picked up two more Jedi, one a Cathar named Juhani who had killed her master and turned to the dark side. Revan was somehow able to bring her back to the light, and she joined them on their quest. Another Jedi was a cantankerous old coot named Jolee Bindo, who, from what Indy read about him, reminded him of a cross between his own father, and Sallah's captain friend, Katanga. The last member of their party was an assassin droid called HK-47. That droid would eventually turn out to be, or had been, Revan's personal assassin droid, once Revan had regained his memory and realized who he really was, or had been, or whatever. Together, they all joined forces and combined their own unique skills to help Revan defeat Malek and destroy the Star Forge.

He spent the next week studying the worlds he was about to visit, better to learn as much as he could beforehand, he thought. Now since Taris was leveled due to Malek's attack, they would not be going there, but considering it had nothing to do with the Star Forge, he decided to pass that one by for now from a research perspective. After they had escaped Taris, they headed for Dantooine, a planet with lush grasslands, empty steppes, and forests of spiky blba trees. The Jedi also had an academy there before Malek had that destroyed. It was here Revan first met Juhani, in an evil grove in the southeast part of the territory. Local wildlife included the nasty kath hounds. Many Jedi got the crystals for their lightsabers from a local cave, which was said to be protected by powerful and deadly creatures. There were also some ancient ruins where they found their first star map and which started them on their quest to locate the Star Forge.

Other worlds they traveled to were Tatooine, a planet that was mostly desert due to having twin suns. The parts that weren't desert were taken up by spaceports; Mos Espa, Mos Eisley, and Anchorhead. It was in Anchorhead that Revan purchased HK-47 from an Ithorian droid dealer named Yuka Laka. Everything here was pretty much run by slug-like creatures, gangsters, known as the Hutts. This planet was prime real estate for anyone not wanting to be found, or just needing to disappear. The only indigenous life forms were vicious nomads known as Sand People, fierce beasts known as Krayt Dragons, and minute junk dealers and scavengers called Jawas.

Then there was Kashyyk, homeworld to the Wookies, like Zaalbar. They made their homes high in the giant wroshyr trees that populated the planet. The wookies were not too open to visitors, and none ventured down to the depths of the forest floor, unless it involved some sort of right of passage for a wookie cub, as vicious, venomous arachnids called kinrath inhabited it, The only one brave, or stupid enough to make his home on the forest floor, also called the shadowlands, was the Jedi Jolee Bindo.

Next came Manaan, the antithesis of Tatooine, as it was covered in water. The primary inhabitants were bipedal creatures referred to as Selkath. At the time, Manaan provided both the Republic and Sith with kolto, which had mystical healing properties, especially useful in times of war.

Korriban was the Sith homeworld, even had an academy there to train up and coming Sith students in the ways of the dark side. Four of the most famous, or infamous Dark Lords were buried here: Ajunta Pall, Marko Ragnos, Tulak Hord, and Naga Sadow. Of course, many nasty creatures including shyracks and tuk'atas inhabit it still. At least with all the tombs littering the area, he would at least have a place he could feel relatively at home, even though he was very VERY far from home.

Last but not least was the unknown world, the ancestral home of the Rakata, the beings who created the star maps, and constructed the Star Forge. Not much to this world's geography except beaches, trails, and a large temple. The main things to be wary of are the large, carnivorous rancors, which inhabit the planet. The hulking behemoths aren't very bright, but are impervious to small arms fire, but can move quite adeptly considering their size, and are said have quite a long reach.

Indy's mind was spinning; this was so much information to cram into such a short time. He hoped he could retain as much as necessary to help him survive on his trek. Who knew what was going to happen? He hadn't seen much of his captor, but was sure Sidious had numerous means at his disposal to keep tabs on him. Time was also slipping away; he had maybe a week left before he was scheduled to depart. Who was to say Sidious wouldn't change his mind and cut his research time short. Indy had found time to eat, but how much of the past three weeks had he actually slept? Not like he felt he needed it after being in stasis for so long. There was still so much he needed to learn, so much he still wanted to know, but now his head was throbbing, he could hardly see straight. He stood up, stretched, took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes, and returned to his bedroom, where he fell on his bed and let his body and mind get some much needed rest.
