Once again, I attended
WizardWorld Chicago this past weekend. It was a chance to meet
celebrities, pick up more Star Wars stuff, and forget my troubles
for a few hours. The place was packed! The lines to try out the
latest games were long, the line for Michael Madsen was even
longer, but the longest line of all was for
well, I'm getting
ahead of myself.
There I was, walking amongst
the throngs of fans, taking in all the sights and sounds, when
I beheld the longest line of people I'd ever seen! It wound around
the whole convention center
seventeen and a quarter times!
Then, I felt a tremor in the Force. I knew something was rotten
in Rosemont, Ill. and must get to the bottom of it. Instantly,
I sprung into action (After I validated my parking, got lost
on my way back, had something to eat (I had to take out a loan
to be able to afford the convention center food), and stopped
off at the cash station to get money to pay for all those collectibles
I MUST have. Then, I got to work.
First, I had to figure out what
this line was for, what better way than to ask one of those who
made up the line. Below is a portion of the dialogue, (mine
is in italics).
"Pardon me, might I inquire
what you're waiting in line for?"
"Sure! I heard Bill Cable
is here, and going to be signing autographs!"
"Bill Cable?!! Do you
mean the founder of CreatureCantina.com?"
"Well, Duh! There is only
one Bill Cable. It's a top secret signing though. They don't
want a riot like they had last year when Bill Cable's appearance
was a just a rumor!"
"Is he the only one from
CC.com here?"
" Tresob Yr may be here,
but that hasn't been substantiated."
"And Bill Cable's appearance
HAS been?"
"Well..no. But after last
year, he's just gotta be here. Could you imagine how pissed all
these people will be if they found out they've been standing
in line all this time for nothing!"
"Y..e..a..h. Say, any
word on Darth Danno being here?"
"Who?"
"Never mind. How long
have you been waiting in line?"
"It feels like forever,
but it's worth it!"
"Has the line moved at
all?"
"Uh
no."
"What time is he supposed
to be here?"
" They didn't say."
"How long is he supposed
to be signing?"
"They didn't say."
"Is this a free signing?"
"They didn't say."
"You don't say. Well,
I'm going to go see if I can find something out for you, since
you've been so helpful."
So off I went. I thought the
next place I should stop should be the front of the line and
see what, if anything, there was to be seen, and gather what
Intel I could along the way. Fortunately, the Force was with
me as who should I meet walking around the convention floor,
but one of my best friends, "Dark Troopa" SupaDave
and his girlfriend Jessey. Yes, Dave is one of those individuals
that even Chewbacca would have to look up to (he's that tall).
He was part of General Moc's Dark Trooper program aboard the
Arc Hammer, and was to wear the prototype version of the phase
three exosuit. That is, before Kyle Catarn stuck his nose into
Moc's business, resulting in the destruction of the Arc Hammer
(but I digress). Jessey was as beautiful as she was deadly. Not
many people knew she was a Nightsister from Dathomir, skilled
in the use of the Dark Side of the Force. Quickly, I filled them
in on this conundrum set before me, and they immediately swore
to aid me in any way possible to solve this mystery. So we set
of once again, and would not stop until we reached
the beginning
of the line
