Baldy's Meet & Greet!

Yet another interview you ask? Why yes! It *is* another fine interview of a collector from wayyyyy out there. And I don't just mean that by his location folks, trust me.

Baldy: What's your name and where are you from?

BW: Broc Walker and I currently reside in Murray, Kentucky....(okay okay, so I have always lived here)

Baldy: What is your states initials?

BW: KY....why ever do you ask?

Baldy: Oh no real reason...... ( snickers to himself ) How long have you been a collector?

BW: Like a lot of other collectors out there, I had the toys as a kid but didn't start actively collecting until the relaunch of the line by Hasbro back in the mid 90's. Then around 1997 I began collecting vintage again once I realized how bad the modern line sucked. It started with a beat up ROTJ Klaatu that I promised my wife would be the only one I would buy.....8 years and 200+ carded later, here I am :O)

Baldy: Has it always been SW or was/is there anything else?

BW: Star Wars is by far my true passion in collecting. However growing up I collected baseball cards quite heavily until the card companies ruined that like Hasbro did the modern line. Nowadays, I mainly just do Star Wars but dabble in loose vintage G.I. Joe 3 3/4" figures, New York Yankees Memorabilia, and Prince bootleg albums.

Baldy: Do you drive a truck?

BW: Do I live in Kentucky? You bet your sweet lizard arse I drive a truck. Actually its an SUV (Isuzu Rodeo) with a big Yankees cover on my spare tire!

Baldy: Are all your teeth real?

BW: Again...would I be a real Kentuckian if they were real? Actually all of mine are 100% mouthgrown by myself except for one. I had to have one replaced back in the day after getting into a fight with some other redneck over Uncle Jeb's daughter Millie....my 3rd cousin. (Actually I lost it in a football scuffle when I was 12)

Baldy: What goals have you met with your collecting?

BW: Over the years I have had many personal goals in the hobby. First of all it was just to get one of every vintage figure carded on their coinciding movie cardback. But my main goal was achieved awhile back when I was able to put together a complete set of the 41 figures that were made available on the ESB 41a cardback with the Survival Kit offer. It was a task to say the least and I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help of all of the friends I have made around the world over the years in this hobby.

Baldy: Any you have not made?

BW: There are still a few goals I am trying real hard to bring to fruition. A few proof cards I am missing, some carded figures here and there and of course a certain figure hard copy that a couple of mean people out there won't sell me.....you know who you are! ;o)

Baldy: Ever score in a hall or alley?

BW: Um...well....not really. Does a Hotel, Motel,.....HOLIDAAAAYYY INNNNNN count for anything?

Baldy: Do you have a collecting focus and if so what is it?

BW: Sure do, a couple of them actually. I am still quite active in my Survival Kit Offer focus that I mentioned earlier as well as I have a character focus on the Hoth Rebel Soldier 3 3/4" figure.

Baldy: Why that?

BW: The Soldier focus was a real easy choice for me actually. The Hoth Soldier was my favorite figure as a child by far. Anytime I was only allowed to carry one toy with me to church, school, or anywhere else for that matter....it was the Hoth Soldier that I took. I can vividly remember my Dad getting mad at me because he was always having to glue the head back on the figure because I played with it so much it popping off all the time.

Baldy: Is it true that you are the long lost son of Grizzly Adams?

BW: Not really Grizzly Adams. More like an actual Grizzly! You know what I mean....you've all seen the picture that was on Rebelscum.

Baldy: What was your best deal or find?

BW: I have had a few really good deals over the years thanks to hours of eBaying and great friends in the hobby of course. But if I had to pick just one great find over the years it would probably have to be my Collect All 41 display. I was fortunate enough to pick it up for a good price off of eBay because of it lack of description.

Baldy: How long do you see yourself remaining a collector?

BW: Would I really be a serious collector if I could see myself not ever collecting? Really, I have no intentions of leaving the hobby anytime in the near future or ever for that matter.

Baldy: Have you ever been bitten by a dog?

BW: Just because I happen to be a Mailman doesn't mean I have to have been bitten by a dog, that's kind of narrow minded on your part. Okay, so there was this one time I delivered a package that a pooch nearly took off my finger. It hurt like hell and was bruised for a week.

Baldy: You wuss.......Which movie is your favorite, doesn't have to be SW?

BW: Well if we are talking SW here I would have to say Empire Strikes Back for sure. I will never forget seeing it in the theater for the first time a child. The images were so amazing and impressive at the time and I felt so betrayed after Vader's father revelation. As for non SW movies, I would have to say Field Of Dreams is pretty high on my list. I really love baseball movies in general.

Baldy: Will you buy me a drink, perhaps some Surge?

BW: Don't toy with my emotions Baldo. You know good and well my favorite citrus soda is no longer being made. I have been living with Surge withdrawals going on 3 years now....heartbreaking isn't it? If they relaunch it later this year like they are discussing I will not be buying anyone but myself some Surge as its all miiiiinnnnnneee......MMMMUUUUHHHUUUUHHHHAAAHHHHAAAA. Okay, maybe just one for you Lizard Lover :O)
