For 20 years, the head of the Jedi High Council has done everything in his power to hold the Republic together. As the situation deteriorated, Mace Windu's tactics became more and more desperate. Now there is no line the Jedi won't cross to maintain order and obedience. Those loyal to the Republic are shackled by fear. And the Jedi themselves have become corrupt and lustful for power.
