What's next???

So, we've had the films released in theaters, they've been re-released, released on VHS and laserdisc. Special Editions of the films were then released in theaters years later, and versions of those were released on VHS, and on DVD, and now Blu-Ray. The films are starting their return to the big screens, this time in 3D. So all of this makes me wonder...where do we go from here? Star Wars restaurants, hotels, amusement parks? (I know we have “Star Tours” at Disney, but that's a single ride, not a whole park.) May 4th needs to be declared a national holiday. As for running for office, we have the Republican, Democratic, Libertarian, and Green parties, what about a Republic, Imperial, Jedi, or Sith party? Fear not, fellow readers, I have received it on good authority from my Bothan allies that Lucasfilm is working on something bigger than anything we've seen before, or will ever see again, and that is...The Star Wars Network!!!!

     That's right, when they're not running the original and prequel films around the clock, showing “The Clone Wars” movie and repeats of the cartoon series, the Ewok movies plus the “Droids” and “Ewoks” animated series, you can tune into “Star Wars Weather” to find out the temperature on Tatooine, if it'll rain on Kamino, how cold it is on Hoth, etc... “Star Wars Sports-time” will bring you all the latest and greatest Podraces and Sabacc matches from across the galaxy. No SW-related subject will be left out. From Force aerobics to comic collecting, you can come here to get your fill and then some. Plus interviews with the cast, crew, collectors, trek-bashers, and whomever else wants to get a word in edgewise. All of this information will also be available online, so you can stay connected via your home computer, laptop, PDA, or any mobile device.

     When will this all be available, you ask? Well whenever I confront the reps at Lucasfilm, I get the same pat answer: “check back soon!” When will they start to announce autograph guests for CVI, “check back soon!” When will enrollment for SW-speed dating open, “check back soon!” How about show exclusives, “check back soon!” Is there going to be another joint venture between CVI and “Star Tours”,“check back soon!” Am I ever going to stop beating this dead Bantha? Of course, once we actually GET SOME ANNOUNCEMENTS!!!!! Oh I'm sorry, did I say that out loud? What I meant to say was “check back soon!”
