Another funny Cantina Comic Posted by: Bill Cable 10.06.04 12:01am We're at the end, and I'm all out of words. Thankfully, Josh Ellis sent me an idea for this strip that I was able to use with little or no brain expenditure. Enjoy this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

I love me some praise! Posted by: Bill Cable 10.06.04 12:01am You wanna get a plug for your site on CC.com? This is how you do it... by lavishing me with compliments! If you can make it funny... even better! Here's the perfect example:
Mr. Cable,
I've been admiring your Creature Cantina site for quite a while now...
Admiring leads to envy; envy leads to jealousy; jealousy leads to suffferrring...
Ahem.
Anyway, I'm involved in a little Star Wars parody Website with some friends of mine -- nothing nearly as complex or sophisticated as your own, mind you -- and I thought you might be amused by the attached comic.
I was going to hand it over to my friends, but it really doesn't fit in with the rest of our content.
Your fellow hobbyist,
Tresob Yr
P.S. The Website, incidentally, is http://starwars.thecommandline.org
Did you see that? Somebody called us "complex and sophisticated!!" Isn't that awesome? I think so. Theirs is a neat little site. I loved the Piano Man parody. Good stuff.
As I write this, I'm realizing that the comic strip the guy sent me is on my PC at home. So I'll have to post that up there either later tonight or next week. It'll come sometime. Anyway, thanks Tresob!
OK... got the thing off my home PC and uploaded it. Enjoy!!

Those thieving bastards!!! Posted by: Bill Cable 10.06.04 12:01am Another reason we exceeded our bandwidth limit was due to bandwidth thieves! We get all sorts of places linking to our images. The most popular file, by far, is Sandy's Wookiee Cookie Quick-shot. That damn thing was on the first results page on Google when you search for "Wookie." People started using it as their avatar in forums... I was getting hundreds of hits from just completely random web sites. Nobody ever asked for permission. They just stole the thing. It was becoming a real pain, and I had to do something about it.
In this endeavor, my ignorance actually worked in my favor for once! You see, up until a few weeks ago, I didn't know that the correct spelling for "Wookiee" has a double-e at the end. I thought it was just "Wookie." And I'm not alone... on Google you'll find 130,000 matches for the incorrect spelling, and only 47,500 for the correct!! Weird stuff. So I originally spelled the file name "wookie_cookie.jpg." To thwart the bandwidth thieves, I renamed the Wookiee Cookie file with the correct spelling of Wookiee, and swapped our the Wookiee Cookie graphic with this phat plug for CC.com! Take that, thieves!!!
So then I had to go in my administration page and fix the reference in the original story. And that got me thinking... "What does that matter? Nobody can read those stories anyway." You see, I'm slowly filling out the old news archive with stories from 2001-2003, before I was entering all the stories in a database. They're all in old HTML files that are just torturous to go through, strip code, and enter into a DB everyone can read. I wanted to put the archive up sequentially... but what the hell??!! It took me about 30 minutes to copy a few archive pages and edit the code to give my readers access to every news story from 2003 to the present!! Check out the CreatureCantina.com News Archive for hundreds of archived stories, and be sure to check the archive of March 10th, 2004's update to see the beloved Wookiee Cookie graphic.

A measurable measure of this site's success!! Posted by: Bill Cable 10.06.04 12:01am Last month, we here at CC.com reached a new heights in terms of visitors! We received so much traffic during September that we actually exceeded our bandwidth limit!! Woohoo!!! Here's the E-mail to prove it:
Subject: Site Usage Notification for site creaturecantina.com
From: administrator@thinkanywhere.com
Date: Fri, October 1, 2004 12:00 am
To: cable@creaturecantina.com
Your site creaturecantina.com has exceeded its
bandwidth quota in the period beginning on 2004-09-01.
Your quota is set to 5242880000 bytes ( 5000.0 MB ), and
your site has consumed 461726448 bytes ( 440.337 MB ) beyond that quota.
5 Gigs of useless garba... I mean... humorous content spewed across the Internet in just 30 days. We've finally made it, people!! We're here!! It's time to dig up some damn sponsors!!!...
Of course, I should probably disclose that a good chunk of that traffic came from people visiting my spectacularly successful eBay auctions. Then there were the nearly 80 photos from Baldy's DragonCon coverage to consider... so maybe we didn't have any huge upswing in viewers or anything. But then again, we've never gotten a bandwidth warning before, and I've run lots of eBay auctions and pr0n images. So maybe it does mean something! Hear that, potential sponsors? Thousands of eyes begging for your gaudy banner ads! Come and get it!!

Butt-ugly Jedi "Cable Art" Posted by: Bill Cable 10.06.04 12:01am I'm gonna be brief here... mostly because I've written a whole bunch in these other stories and am just tired of typing. So here goes...
Ki-Adi-Mundi is one ugly Jedi. He's not the ugliest, I mean... there's that figure coming out next year with the eyes on the sides of his head and no lips... but that doesn't mean Ki-Adi's not damn ugly himself. And ugly is fun to draw!
Now, when you look at the drawing, I may as well explain something first. I had to explain it to my wife when I showed it to her. I had to explain it to the guy I drew it for. So I'm gonna explain it to you now. Ki-Adi is not getting shot. He's actually dodging 3 blaster bolts... one in the foreground and two in the background. He's engaged in some fancy, Jedi-esque footwork. Now that you know that, I hope you won't be confused.
OK... this is getting long, so without further ado...

Here's your comic! Posted by: Bill Cable 10.13.04 12:01am You know, I try to keep a little bit of continuity to my strips. The setting is supposed to be "Chalmun's Cantina right around the time Greedo gets shot." And I try to keep to things in the SW Universe. But every once in a while, I gotta throw that out the window and refer to things in the real world. Like in this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

Fun with ASCII!! Posted by: Bill Cable 10.13.04 12:01am Back in the day, people used to draw ASCII art by hand, making all these wonderful pictures of naked women and other things I really can't remember. It seemed like a tedious process, and not exceptionally rewarding. I guess some people can get their jollies by figuring out whether a random dark splotch more closely resembles a "@" character or a "#"... but most of us aren't that motivated.
Well now they've gone and made it easy! You can create your own ASCII pictures at http://www.degraeve.com/gif2txt.php. I found out about this site after it tripped my access stats... somebody was creating ASCII Cable Originals!!! Well, how fun is that? You should try it out!! Grab the URL for one of the characters out of the "Cable Original" gallery... say General Grievous... and you can end up with something as cool as this!! And you don't have to do hardly any work at all!! And if you're really motivated, you could probably put together some naked women that would put those old ones to shame!!! Have fun!

Top 10 Reasons why Beer is better than the Star Wars movies Posted by: Baldy 10.13.04 12:01am
- It's cold and frosty instead of old and stale.
- Beer can get a little better with age.
- You don't have to have electricity to enjoy beer.
- With beer, you can always outrun the authorities.
- There are more than three good beers out there.
- Beer comes in 12 and 24 packs, not just a 3 pack.
- NO JAR JAR.
- A good beer buzz lets you do much more than that lame old Force thing does.
- Gargan actually looks better after beer.
And the number one reason is beer is better than the Star Wars Movies:
- The makers of beer may change your beer over the years but they don't take away
the original brew just because it wasn't their "grand vision" of what their perfect
beer was back in the day. Fekkin Lucas can bite my shiny metal ass.

Archive additions - I'm even more famous!! Posted by: Bill Cable 10.13.04 12:01am Everybody here knows I'm not one to toot my own horn... but for this week, let's just say "Toot toot!" I was honored to have some of my most significant Vintage collectibles featured in the latest update on the ToysRGus.com Collectors Archive! I finally got off my butt and took some photos, and Mike Mensinger ended up posting them almost immediately. Here's what's posted:
10-10-04 Star Wars C-3PO (Fett Offer) Action Figure Packaging Cromalin
10-10-04 POTF C-3PO With Removable Limbs Action Figure Packaging Cromalin
10-10-04 Droids C-3PO Action Figure Packaging Cromalin
10-10-04 ESB Ugnaught Carded Quality Control Sample
Awesome stuff, huh? Who said C-3PO and Ugnaught items couldn't be the coolest??
I tell you... there's nothing nicer than being immortalized in the Archive. If you have any cool stuff, you should take some photos and E-mail them in. I'd recommend sending them to Mike... he's the only guy over there who actually does anything anymore. Then you can brag to all your friends about how your collectibles were cool enough to get on the Archive, and they'll all be awed. They'll kiss the ground you walk on. It's a wonderful feeling.

Sandy's Quick Shots! Posted by: Sandy Rivers 10.13.04 12:01am

I wrote this one my own damn self! Posted by: Bill Cable 10.20.04 12:01am After a few weeks of running strips written by my loyal fans, I decided to do one on my own. And inspiration hit me almost immediately. I hope you enjoy this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

Futurama/Star Wars bootleg crossover figure found! Posted by: Baldy 10.20.04 12:01am While oogling the scantily clad women at DragonCon this year, I actually made time to get some Star Wars stuff too. Among other things, I got a small six piece bootleg set of pencil toppers. Here is a shot of the whole set I got from Joe Y.
Across the top are from L-R an R2 unit with a pistol on his head, an unknown droid and R5D4 with TV antenna on his head. The bottom row has a Greedo, Vader and Stormtrooper.
Now the piece I found to be the most interesting is the Trooper. It seems that down in Mexico where these are from, there is a huge cult following for the TV show Futurama. And the king of that show down there is Dr. Zoidberg, an alien crustacean that resembles a lobster. I had no idea how big this had infected the Mexican culture until I got a hold of this bootleg. I mean its cool to see Star Wars stuff shoddily made and all, but when Star Wars gets crossed with Futurama, it's a big deal and nothing is held back on the quality products being made. Behold the awesome glory of the "Zoidberg Stormtrooper" !!
Note the body matches EXACTLY to the good doctor on the show. The claws are also the same as Zoidberg's. The only thing that makes this not a Futurama toy is the Stormtrooper helmet. Frankly I would have liked to see a Zoidberg head with a trooper body and enuff articulation to pose him rummaging thru a dumpster for food. Now THAT'S a figure!
But since Fox wont grant any of the Mexicans a deal to make Futurama toys, this is all we can get. A pencil topper with an attitude. But ain't he cool? Can't you just hear him screaming, "Hey, I'm a Stormtrooper and I'll get some respect! HOORAY!!"
Poor lobster man has no idea of the godlike status he has here on Earth........
Baldy

Baldy takes action figure photography to the limit!! Posted by: Bill Cable 10.20.04 12:01am As if the sketch card pr0n in my lead story this week wasn't enough, I have to deal with a batch of photos Baldy sent me. He said in his E-mail, and I quote, "Do a story of whatever you want. If it makes me look bad, so be it."
Ah... how could I make him look bad by posting his Action Figure Sex Photos???!!! I mean, it's an entirely common phenomenon. (Actually, that's not completely untrue... first-generation CreatureCantina.com writer Bobby Sharp was also known to enjoy his sexually explicit action figure photography). So what sort of story was our favorite folically-challenged freak trying to tell? Let's try to caption these...
Bring out the Gimp.
Sit on my face and tell me that you love me! I'll sit on your face and tell you I
love you too...
I think he's frisking her...
"Hey buddy... tell me all about it!!"

A new comic by Tresob Yr!! Posted by: Bill Cable 10.20.04 12:01am Tresob Yr of Star Wars Action Figure Theater sends this along...
I would have zapped this along sooner, but we're in the middle of midterms out here.
That, and it took me about three hours to open up an obnoxiously packed cantina scene just to have a usable bar rail.
I wonder how many collectors have died from plastic fume inhalations just trying to open cheap figures...
Anyway, hope you enjoy the comic...I have two more installments if you do. Otherwise, I'll just melt down the figures and try something else.

Find Yourself A Star Wars Buddy! Posted by: Lord Melbury 10.20.04 12:01am While this isn't altogether Star Wars related, it IS a nice way to reach out to the community and do something for someone less fortunate than yourself... well, less fortunate or less intelligent, either way.
It's the Federal Bureau of Prisons' Inmate Locator Site! Take some time and look someone up - let your fingers do the walking and link up with someone that has a little time on their hands. Y'know, you COULD make this Star Wars related... if you find yourself a friend and let them know how many variations of Episode I Darth Maul Jedi Duel you bought for $1 each at Toys R Us in 2001... maybe he won't know what you're talking about and MAYBE HE'S THE DEVIL! Rest assured if it's the latter, he'll have a lot in common with Maul's evil, deceptive appearance. Ask him if he's a Sith - let him brainwash you... (...kill someone...)
Uh, sorry, anyway, you can't find out their exact whereabouts, but you can find out where they are "holed up", and even dig up their IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (...but you won't need to see his identification...)
Geez, I got this feeling someone's reaching out to me telepathically...
Hook it up - make a friend - search your heart out. Hope this helps!

"Cable Original" Heritage Cards Posted by: Bill Cable 10.20.04 12:01am I was as shocked as anybody a few months ago when Lucasfilm approached me about doing some sketch cards for their upcoming "Heritage" line. I mean... I'm just a lowly hack on a comedy web site... I'm not a "professional artist." But hey... I'm not one to turn down the chance to display my artistic prowess, so I eagerly took them up on the offer. I drew a few sample cards for them and shipped them out. Then out of the blue, the offer was off the table!! I can't even get them to respond to my E-mails anymore!
I don't know what could have happened! I mean, the art I sent in was top-notch! I don't know... I guess there's just no accounting for taste. Since my art will never make it into the card packs everyone is opening now, I might as well share some scans of them. So I present for your enjoyment, Padme, Slave Leia, and a special C-3PO #207!!

You mean that's it?? Posted by: Bill Cable 10.27.04 12:01am Yeah... this week's update is kinda sparse. I'm just too tired to write any stories myself... and apparently the majority of my staff feels the same. I'm taking some vacation time starting tomorrow, and that's just sucked away every ounce of motivation in my body. Plus I'm just aching to get home and play some Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I'm only about 2 hours into it, but so far... damned impressed. Good thing I'm taking a week off work!! The last thing I need to take care of before I can go is this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

Another Tresob Yr photo comic!! Posted by: Bill Cable 10.27.04 12:01am One more from Tresob Yr of Star Wars Action Figure Theater. This guy better be careful before we force him to join our staff!!
Sorry, I didn't break my stride and use a Halloween theme.
Maybe your readers can just pretend that Luke and Han are really just Greedo and Ponda Baba in their Halloween costumes.
Ponda Baba...I always thought he should have stuck with "Walrusman." It made him sound more superheroic.

The long-awaited return of GPD!!! Posted by: Steve "Solo" Rensi 10.27.04 12:01am The Postal Crew would like to wish all their fans a Happy Halloween by inviting them to go Trick-or-Treating with them. Don't get too exited kiddies, it's a short one.
Galactic Postal Delivery Episode VIII: Halloween

Spooky Comic Strip Posted by: Bill Cable 11.03.04 12:01am OK... this comic is really about 4 days late. But it's still funny. So I did it anyway. Enjoy this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

A GPD Video Game tribute Posted by: Steve "Solo" Rensi 11.03.04 12:01am Another GPD short for all of you enjoy. This one pays tribute to the greatest game series of all time....GRAND THEFT AUTO! So f*ck Halo...yeah I said it.

A special message from Garrison Carida: Posted by: Bill Cable 11.03.04 12:01am

Special thanks to TK-1078 for the photo

GIVE THEM SOME TOYS!!! Posted by: Bill Cable 11.03.04 12:01am Halloween was just 3 days ago... which means it's Christmas Season!! Because that's the way the big retailers want it!!!
And when 'tis the season to get piles of goodies for under your own tree, well 'tis also the season to get some goodies for people who really need them. And CreatureCantina.com is thrilled to announce that the Pennsylvania Star Wars Collecting Society is going to give you the opportunity to get some goodies for some very deserving kids. Here's how...
Last December Garrison Carida invaded and occupied Toy Heaven in Philadelphia for a few hours, shoving various passer-bys into the shop and shaking them down for Star Wars figures. As a result, Toy Heaven closed down the next month. This December they're doing it again... this time at Toy Cave in Carlisle, PA. PSWCS is organizing and hosting the take-over, which will occur December 11th. And woe is he who walks down Hanover Street that Saturday afternoon, as they will taste the wrath of Carida!!
This would normally be a bad thing... except for what Carida ends up doing with the toys. They don't keep them. No... they give them away when they visit children's hospitals throughout the year! They dress up in their armor, pull out some cameras, pose for photos and give away toys. How great is that?? And you can help their efforts. You can mail them some of your Star Wars toys that are now just rotting in boxes in your basement... wouldn't some kid in a hospital have a lot more fun with them? Read all about it on the PSWCS/Garrison Carida Toy Drive web page!!!

Mr. Cable upgrades to Oscar's Cases!! Posted by: Bill Cable 11.03.04 12:01am A couple weeks ago, I finally completed my set of Vintage Empire Strikes Back figures. There are 29 figures that premiered on ESB cardbacks, and I grabbed the last one I needed, a Zuckuss, from The Earth! And the price was pretty good to boot! I'd been looking for the last 5 or 6 since April and eBay has just been awful, so I was thrilled to find the last one I needed from a great shop like The Earth.
So anyway... I got my 29th ESB carded figure, put them up on my shelves... and well, here's how they looked:
And here's a straight-on view:
It's a great collection... but it looks like CRAP!!! You can't see anything with those figures in Star Cases. Star Cases are great... nice protection... cheap... but for displaying figures they're sub-par. The reason? Wasted space!
Click here for the rest of the story.

Cantina comic Posted by: Bill Cable 11.10.04 12:01am I'm just running too late and am too tired to write much else. So read my comic. It's funny. Here's this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

Sandy's Quick Shots Posted by: Sandy Rivers 11.10.04 12:01am

Because one Toy Wars wasn't enough... Posted by: Tresob Yr 11.10.04 12:01am Here's a lesson for you... if you send us enough crap to put on our site, we may have no choice but to add you to the staff. We're thrilled to welcome our newest contributor Tresob Yr formerly of the Star Wars Action Figure Theater. Send him an E-mail and say hi... just so he has something besides 100 SPAMs in his mailbox when he checks it. Oh yeah, and here's his latest comic, the sequel to his "Toy Wars" series called... wait for it... "Toy Wars 2!!!!"

A masterpiece in Oscar's Acrylics!! Posted by: Bill Cable 11.10.04 12:01am When we left our hero last week, he was about to transfer his ESB MOC collection to Oscar's superior Acrylic cases from Star Cases. And it's funny... I got complaints from ALL OVER THE PLACE from people upset that they had to wait a week to see the finished results. Ha! My ploy WORKED!!!! I sucked you all back in for another visit.
Anyways, a week ago, my ESB collection looked something like this:
And I was just about to finish unpacking my exceptionally well-protected Oscar's Cases. Getting them out of the peanuts, I found them wrapped in cling wrap in groups of 5... and boy are those fun to unwrap!!
Once they were out, it was just a matter of the tedious process of taking them out of the Star Cases without damaging them, then sliding them into Oscar's Cases.
Click here for the rest of the story.

Great new Cable Art!! Posted by: Bill Cable 11.10.04 12:01am So last week I was taking my latest "Cable Original" to the copy place to get my standard "2 copies on the color copier" done for my portfolio. The copy guy brings back my sheets, he's ringing up the sale (a damnedable $3.16 off my profits) and he asks if I do these professionally. I say it's mostly a hobby, but they're commissioned pieces. He asked if it was still fun and I said yeah. Then he said something the floored me. He said "You're stuff's really good. I see a lot of artists come through here, and your's is the best I see." I mean... holy crap! Half the time I don't even think my stuff is good, much less good compared to anybody else's art. I mean... I can't understand why people are giving me $55 for my art. I actually work harder on the detail to compensate for my own perceived lack of talent. And this guy says I'm the best he's seen?? There's no accounting for taste, I guess...
I don't know... all I see when I look at my art is where I could have done better. So I guess I don't see how good my stuff actually is. But one thing does allow me to get an idea... and that's on the rare opportunities where I get to give my art to the patron in person. And that happened last Saturday at the November PSWCS meeting. If you check the Events Page for last week you can see the guy showing off his new art during the Show & Tell session. He was really happy with it. And that's a great thing to see. You can see what gave him such palpable joy in the Cable Original Star Wars Art Gallery!!!
And hey... if you like my art, there's no time like the present to commission a piece. You see, I have no art lined up right now. Not a thing. I'm all caught up. You'd be first in line! That Slave Leia listed as "Reserved," well that's just there because I want to do something special with it... maybe make it my 100th piece. Or maybe I'm just waiting for someone to offer me $300 for it.

A scathing criticism of current events Posted by: Bill Cable 11.17.04 12:01am This week Star Wars fans all over the world were devastated by the revelation that there won't be any revelation of a certain Star Wars actress in a certain forthcoming movie. I mean.. damn it all to hell. Just to prove I'm up with the latest news and gossip, I incorporated that sad, sad news into this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

Toy Wars 2 part 2... or Toy Wars part 5... or... Posted by: Tresob Yr 11.17.04 12:01am This week we continue with the toy photo comic strip with the most confusing naming convention ever. You see, this is actually the 5th Toy Wars comic. But it's only the 2nd of a 3-part arc called Toy Wars 2, so it's not really associated with the first Toy Wars, except in name. Well, that and that it has photos of toys playing with smaller toys... how freaky is that? But at least none of them are erotic toys. Now that would just be wrong. I mean... Greedo and a dil... well, I'll just leave it to your imagination. To help you erase that image from your mind, here's Toy Wars part.. something.

Give them Stormies some toys!! Posted by: Bill Cable 11.17.04 12:01am The Garrison Carida Toy Drive we announced a couple weeks ago is going strong! So far PSWCS has collected almost 120 toys and action figures that Carida will hand out at Children's Hospitals through 2005. Most impressive... but they aren't finished yet. With three and a half weeks until the big day at Toy Cave, now is the perfect time for you to get involved and send in some of your POTF2 doubles. You know... that box of figures in the basement that's just gathering dust. Those six or seven red card Landos you grabbed thinking that you'd trade them down the line for other super-rare short packs. And do you really need all of those 11 different carded Tatooine Lukes? REALLY?? Just think how happy those toys would make a kid who's been stuck in the hospital... especially when those toys are given away by a Real Live Stormtrooper!!!
This year's toy drive has gotten some decent publicity! Aside from the juggernaut Star Wars sites like CreatureCantina.com, a number of the smaller sites have picked up their press release and spread it to the masses. Small-time players like, oh, TheForce.net and RebelScum.com and GalacticHunter.com. You know... the quirky little guys that dedicated collectors visit from time to time... I'm sure the members of PSWCS and GC are very thankful for their help in this effort. But just because an event gets some publicity doesn't mean it deserves your support. No... this drive deserves your support because it yielded the Greatest Damn Promotional Poster EVER Created Using A Guy In Stormtrooper Armor And A Cat!!!!!!! That's why you should send in some toys!!! That and those little kids...
Visit the Garrison Carida Toy Drive web page if you want information on how to donate!!!

I was able to crank out yet another comic Posted by: Bill Cable 11.24.04 12:01am Let me give you some insight into my method of brainstorming when I'm just completely bereft of ideas for my weekly comic. The dialogue in my head goes like this... "Gotta think of something funny. What's funny? What's funny? Damnit, what's funny? OK... people getting hurt is funny. How's a funny way for someone to get hurt? Someone getting punched is really funny! Why would someone get punched? Why would somebody punch someone? Why? Why damnit, why???!" That goes around in my head about thirty times, and the end result is something like this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

Poetry by Baldy Posted by: Baldy 11.24.04 12:01am From a man who by all rights shouldn't be allowed within 40 feet of a poetry book, we present these new instant classics...
A Wookiee from Nantucket
There once was a Wookiee from Nantucket
whose hair was so long he could pluck it.
He pulled it along, singing this song:
If Han was here we could RIDE.
Little Miss Padme
Little Miss Padme
went out with her caddy
to give her golf game a kick.
When she shot an eagle
she barked like a beagle
then ran about 'til she got sick.

Toy Wars 2 FINALE!! Posted by: Tresob Yr 11.24.04 12:01am What could motivate boys to put away their toys? Not much, apparently. Delve deep into the obsessions of the Cantina patrons in the earth-shattering finale of Toy Wars 2!!!!

Marblehead's News of the Weird Posted by: Marblehead 11.24.04 12:01am Just In time for Thanksgiving
With primary filming now complete on what is to be the final Star Wars film production, a major announcement is coming from the Lucas camp. Jabba the Hutt, best known as the full figured crime lord from "Return of the Jedi," has committed to undergo the latest fad and controversial stomach stapling surgery. The perpetually hungry Hutt has made various attempts to lose some of his excess body. The most notable attempt being apparent in his critically panned added scene in the Star Wars "Special Editions". His final binge of bird, potatoes, pie, NFL and beer will come tomorrow as he gorges himself along with millions of Americans celebrating Thanksgiving.
Control. Control. You Must Learn Control.
Among the many other rigorous and painful training physicals that Stormtroopers must undergo, none is more secret than the lesson of bladder control. The clumsy and cumbersome suits create an awkward situation when it comes to the need for the we to pee. Little is still yet known of these training procedures but they do consist of heavy beer drinking, water guzzling and enemas. The Troopers truly are troopers.

R2-D2's career has hit a low. No longer in need for Star Wars movies and in financial despair, R2-D2 has turned to voice-over work. However the only voice-over work he has managed to land at this point is that of creating new ring tones for Verizon Wireless.

Happy Birthday to ME!!! Posted by: Bill Cable 11.24.04 12:01am For the first time in... I don't know... ever, my birthday falls on the same day as my CreatureCantina.com update! Believe it or not, I'm 31 years old. A thirty-one-year-old who runs a Star Wars comedy web site. And collects toys. That's kinda pathetic, actually... But I am married and own my own home, so at least I'm not as pathetic as the 31-year-old guys out there who collect and still live in their moms' basements. That's something, at least.
So I'm trying to figure out what to do for my birthday. I'll be getting some presents and good stuff like that, but I don't really have any "plans." My "plans" so far are to drop off some clothes at Good Will and stop by a department store whose delivery company decided to knock over my mailbox two months ago and not pay for a replacement. Woo woo! Party time!! And sadly, I don't think anything I do today will be really geared towards Star Wars, unless I get around to some drawing. Alas, the Force probably won't be with me.
And I doubt I'm gonna get any Star Wars presents. I mean, it's impossible to shop for a Star Wars collector. We have everything we want already, so anything you'd get me would be a double. And nobody has what I'm really looking for... a MOC Return of the Jedi Removable Limbs C-3PO with the mail-away Anakin offer sticker. So I'll probably end up with a few video games or something. Not one Star Wars toy.
I know my fans are out there now clamoring for my mailing address to send me some Star Wars toys. I appreciate it... I really do! But I think I have a better idea. Rather than mailing me some toys I already have, why don't you mail a few donations to the PSWCS/Garrison Carida Toy Drive. Whatever you have to offer, those kids will genuine appreciate it. And I probably have it anyway. That is unless you're gonna send me an Anakin offer C-3PO, for which I would trade you MY LEFT ARM... well, you can mail that one to me and I'll toss a couple extra of my own toys in the donation box.

Will it never end??? Posted by: Bill Cable 12.01.04 12:01am Blast these comic strip write ups! Week after week. Trying to come up with something new. I'm just in no condition for it. Just go read this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

The impending death of the Cantina Forums Posted by: Bill Cable 12.01.04 12:01am In delving into my access stats, the CC.com forums are getting a ridiculous amount of traffic. I'm talking like 3 or 4 times the number of page views of the home page. Yet nobody posts. So I gotta conclude that all the traffic is from random SPAMbots. And personally, I get enough SPAM as it is. So I think I'm gonna shut it down. Really, I only even created the thing for a single gag... to name a forum "The Comenzone." I know... hilarious!! That was the whole point. But I think the time for that point has passed. So I figure I'm gonna go in and figure out how to shut it down. Delete all the E-mail addresses or something. Maybe next week. So you've been warned.

Episode X, chapter 1: Toy Wars

My mind is shot... Posted by: Bill Cable 12.01.04 12:01am So... have you ever had one of those days when you're just not all there mentally? When it feels like you're mind's on autopilot, and there's no way to break out of it? That's how I'm feeling today. And I don't have any idea why. I mean... I'm not drunk. Yet. So why can't I shake out the cobwebs? I'll tell you, it's certainly not the right state of mind to be in when you're trying to put together a web site update. Especially when I'm not even able to type for sh*t.
So anyway... I guess I'll just work in one final plug for the toy drive. Give to the Toy Drive! Why the final plug? Well... the drive is next Saturday, so if you haven't sent in your toys before next week's update, you'll be too late anyway. So stop procrastinating and head to the post office this weekend. Or today even.
Sorry I can't come up with anything else funny for this. I do think the drunk quip might induce a chuckle... I impressed myself with that one. Especially in my nothing-addled state. What else to say? Oh yeah... buy some of my art. I think that'll just about do it.

One more plug... Posted by: Bill Cable 12.08.04 12:01am Can I work in just one more plug to the toy drive? I think I can! Check out this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

Almost in time for Christmas... Posted by: Bill Cable 12.08.04 12:01am AS you probably know, one of the little projects I do from time to time are custom-carded, Vintage Droids Cartoon action figures. I draw and color the art in the Droids style, print it out on a cardback template, and mount a figure and bubble. The end product is pretty nice. Here's my Droids Bossk. And here's my Droids Chewbacca.
My third Droids figure has been a long time coming. It's been marred by production problems. First, I couldn't find any figures complete with their weapons! Anywhere!!! Then after I finally found some (thank you Jedi Knight Action Figures!), the guy who does the cardbacks had a computer meltdown. On his new PC, even using the same printer, the cardbacks printed out like CRAP! The blue was super-saturated. They looked terrible. He struggled with his printer, drivers, and all that stuff for months before giving up. So I finally found an alternate source to print them, and they might be ready to reveal as soon as next update, if my cardback guy can get them assembled for me by Friday. But I'm not making any promises, with how things have gone so far...
Just to whet your appetite, I'm presenting this week a sneak peak of the cardback artwork for my third Droids custom. Check it out:
