Durge's brother vows REVENGE!!!
Posted by: Bill Cable 05.12.04 12:01am
A mighty roar exploded through the streets of downtown Paris as news spread of the slimy, disgusting demise of bounty hunter-for-hire Durge at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi. The scream emanated from the throat of Durge's lesser-known brother... the elusive Durgé!! (pronounced Dûr-gay).

The French-raised Durgé initially fumbled for the words to react to the news of his brother's death. "Zis eez an outrage!! Who eez zis 'Oobee-Won??' I... I... zis creeminal will be brought to justeece!!!"

As Durgé brooded over his wine and cheese, he was heard mumbling, "Zut alors... merde... qu'elle idiote mon frere Durge..."

Before he could finish his meal, he stood up and rocketed off towards the closest star port. A startled tourist shot the photo below... a CreatureCantina.com EXCLUSIVE!!!

It's Official: Creature Cantina Really Does Suck!
Posted by: Durge 05.12.04 12:01am
Fans have always said Creature Cantina sucks, but did they really mean it? Did they really hate it and all it represented? Is it really that bad?

The answer is yes.

Folks, I would not believe it if I hadn't seen it. The following photo is proof of how much this place sucks.

For someone to go out of their way and pay extra for a custom "CC Sucks" license plate just proves how much this place sucks.

CC.com reaches across the globe!!!

Normally I don't plug auctions for free, but earlier this week I received a note from a buddy letting me know one of my 10 Droids custom Bossk figures was up on eBay. I went to check it out only to find that some bastard has stolen my cardback art and is reproducing his own crappy repros!!! That's a POTF2 Bossk in there (painted orange for some reason), and the coin isn't even centered over the bubble!!! Crap work at it's lamest. So much for German engineering...

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3191950629

The I was going through my access stats, and found that when foreigners aren't stealing my cardback designs, they're stealing my bandwidth! For example, anybody know Swedish? (at least I think it's Swedish)... 3/4 of the way down this page you'll find a scan of the Insider article where I was quoted:

http://www.starwars.nu/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4375&whichpage=3

Also... http://www.starwars.nu/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4159&whichpage=4

Or perhaps you'd prefer Hungarian. HUNGARIAN???!! Maybe they'll hook me up with some bootlegs...

http://forum.supergamez.hu/listazas.php3?azonosito=alleycat&id=1084188547

Not really bandwidth theft, but you'll find links to my Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme drawing series on this French site...

http://forums.anakinweb.com/topic.php?topic=11939

Is that enough? No? Well I have one more!! How about one from Russia!

http://forum.swgalaxy.ru/index.php?showtopic=614&st=60

These are only the ones that have registered links in the past two weeks. We're touching every corner of the globe. So where's my photo of someone holding the "CreatureCantina.com SUCKS!" sign from Red Square? Is that so much to ask???

The Cantina rides on
Posted by: Bill Cable 05.19.04 12:01am
This week I've been completely uninspired. I didn't have any good story ideas (as demonstrated by my lame offering this week). And I didn't have any inspiration for my comic. I still have a text file full of suggestions from readers, but none that I felt like tackling. I didn't even feel like doing the thing. So what did I do? I bitched and moaned to my staff. And guess what - they helped me out! Durge told me about a goofy little kids joke he'd heard that he thought would make for a good strip. And suddenly - I had inspiration!! So you can thank my staff that this week's strip doesn't suck. Check it out: "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

CreatureCantina.com invades PHILLY!!!
Posted by: Bill Cable 05.19.04 12:01am
Two weeks ago, CreatureCantina.com traveled to western Pennsylvania to cover the Pittsburgh ComiCon & Toy Show. Our efforts were so successful that we've decided to do it again - this time in eastern Pennsylvania! I'll be heading to Wizard World East this Saturday to cover the events and try to get a new batch of "CreatureCantina.com SUCKS!" photos. I'll again be wearing the latest PSWCS T-shirt if you want to be on the look-out for me. Not that expect anybody will. I was hoping to see at least a couple fans at the ComiCon... but the only ones I ran into were guys from OSWCC and those goofballs from Garrison Carida. What a huge let-down that weekend was...

I'm really hoping Ailsa Berk will show up for this one - she's the only Star Wars celebrity scheduled from whom I don't have a CC.com Sucks photo. She pulled out of the ComiCon, which really is what made this trip to Philly necessary. I sure hope it ends up being worth it!!

eBay No Longer Safe for Vintage Star Wars Collectors
Posted by: Durge 05.26.04 12:01am
A few months ago we saw a seller trying to promote his auctions with some racy photos of his sister (mother?) in a bikini holding the figure pertaining to his auctions. Little did we know that now, only a few months later, a new seller would try a similar technique. This time with all out nudity. The auction you are about to behold may startle or scare you my friend, but we must all have knowledge of what we are dealing with when searching for toys on eBay. I hope that some day the madness will end, but today it seems as if we have reached rock bottom. Without further adu, the auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3193866952

I know it's quite disappointing to behold what collecting has come to, but the least we can do is retain hope that some day we will once again be a hobby about collecting and only collecting.

Who the hell is "vespass"??!!
Posted by: Bill Cable 05.26.04 12:01am
As I reported two weeks ago, CreatureCantina.com reaches all around the world. Images from our site are posted all over the place. One place in particular I cited was was the forums on the Swedish/Danish site StarWars.nu. There's a user in those forums that goes by "vespass" who posts CC.com content all the time. Then there's a bunch of comments in Swedish that I don't have a clue what they say... wish I did... but I doubt I'll be learning Swedish any time soon.

Well, it's one thing to steal our bandwidth. It's entirely another to DEFACE a "CreatureCantina.com SUCKS!!" sign!!! This time vespass has gone TOO FAR!!!

If anyone can help us track down this vespass, we'd be very appreciative. I'll put him to work as a Swedish translator so I can figure out just what they hell they're all saying about me!!!

Vintage Myths DEBUNKED!!!
Posted by: Baldy 05.26.04 12:01am
Howdy folks! I know I have been slack beyond words for the last couple of weeks but after my vacation to Hawaii, I really have had no urge to do anything except lounge around the backyard in my Bermuda shorts with a Mai Tai in hand.

Since my interviewee has not responded to me yet, I decided to forego Meet and Greet this week and instead I am doing an editorial about myths in the world of collecting Star Wars toys.

We have all heard some rumors running about certain areas of the Star Wars world and I wanted to go over a few of them here to help people understand a bit better as to what they mean and what they really are.

The first and probably biggest myth in the Vintage Star Wars collecting world is the existence of the Inner Circle. It is supposedly a group of high-end, egomaniacal elitists that hoard all the good stuff that most collectors dream of owning. I have one and only one thing to say about this group: There *is* no Inner Circle.

Secondly, there are no Australian Vinyl Caped Jawas in the world. Period. All the ones that have surfaced are regular Jawas with cut down Ben Kenobi capes.

We came. We saw. We kicked its ASS!
Posted by: Bill Cable 05.26.04 12:01am
True to my threats, I made my way to Philly on Saturday to cover the Wizard World East convention. And I covered the thing for all it was worth!! Here's my report...

First off, the Vintage selection SUCKED ASS. There were only 4 or 5 places that had any vintage at all. The best was one guy trying to sell a 12-back Leia for $775!! But I guess it was a comic convention, not a toy show.

But Star Wars was still well-represented! First of all, I nabbed a couple new pics for the Cantina Celebrities gallery. Alisa Berk, the puppeteer of Amanaman was kind enough to pose for a photo. And Kevin Smith's favorite Mr. Hicks let me know just exactly how he feels about the site...

I asked the guy who played Beastmaster for a photo, but he mumbled something about "I have an agreement about endorsing..." blah blah blah. Lame ass been-acting-for-thirty-years-and-have-only-had-one-role loser...

Master Replicas had a decent booth for the event, and was nice enough to let me take a photo of the upcoming "AFB" Obi-Wan mini lightsaber, along with a prototype Predator spear.

Tossing a bone to you EU freaks...
Posted by: Bill Cable 06.02.04 12:01am
EU enthusiasts are the red-headed step-children of Star Wars fandom. They're the ones who are always getting slapped around and abused. Well don't go saying we don't show you weirdos some love here at CC.com! Not after you're the only ones who get this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

eBay bidders redefines "stupid f&$%ing idiot"
Posted by: Bill Cable 06.02.04 12:01am
CreatureCantina.com readers are known to be an intelligent bunch. So I ask you... how would you spend $816 of your collecting dollars? Maybe you'd pick up a 12-back figure in nice condition. One of the main guys like Han, Luke or Vader. Or maybe a couple of the lesser-valued 12-backs. Get a nice pair of unpunched Droids... R2-D2 and C-3PO. Or maybe you'd pick up a Droids Boba Fett with a clear bubble. Or maybe you'd grab some of the rarer POTF figures... a Nikto, Gamorrean Guard, AT-AT Driver or Han Trenchcoat.

You could even pick up some Vintage prototypes! Many first shots trade below $800. They're extremely rare and historically important pieces... and for $816 you'd have a good shot at many of them. Or you could get a Micro 4-UP. Those green resin puppies could be the talk of your collection. Or maybe a Vintage cardback Cromalin. You could even afford two of the lesser Jedi Cromalins for $816. Cromalins are the "hard copies" of the printed world... generally one-of-a-kind pieces of Kenner history... a true centerpiece of any focus.

Or maybe you'd like to buy some newer figures. $816... that's 154 Saga figures after tax. That's just about every single Saga figure that's been released since Attack of the Clones figures started coming out. That's over two years of collecting right there... $816.

So you could do a lot with $816. You could acquire some stunningly significant pieces that would be the highlight of most any collection. OR you could meet your collecting goals for years. Or, if you were an stupid f&$%ing idiot, you could get a single OTC Han Solo re-pack in a sealed plastic case. One such moron can be found on eBay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5900795112

Yes neotoys, you prove once again the old saying, "A fool and his money are soon parted." You give hope to every scam artist and trickster out that that even to this day, a sucker is born every minute. You've single-handedly raised (or lowered) the bar against which idiots are judged order to be considered stupid f&$%ing idiots. Congratulations! I sincerely hope you cherish every minute you sit and stare at this generally unexceptional and common figure as it sits on your shelf... because that's all the value you'll ever get out of it. You're going to lose every penny of your "investment" if you should ever attempt to unload it.

But we can't sit here and call neotoys the only stupid f&$%ing idiot. After all, he's not the only person to bid. havick27 is the stupid f&$%ing idiot who would have paid $806 for this $5 figure that we'll be seeing all over the shelves in the next two weeks. andrealynette is the stupid f&$%ing idiot who would have paid $260 for this mass-produced piece of re-carded plastic. And then there zzsh003. Actually, zzsh003 would have only paid $30 for this figure... which while not the way I'd spend $30, that's really only the cost of the figure + AFA's grading service, so it's tough to criticize.

So there you have it... idiocy on display for everyone to see. Hopefully we'll all learn something from this... like that it's time to head over to Wal*mart and bribe an associate to run in back a grab you a sealed case of OTC figures. I wonder if there's enough idiots out there to make us all rich.

Congratulations toasty!!!
Posted by: Bill Cable 06.02.04 12:01am
This past Sunday, our very own toasty tied the knot with the love of his life - and she just happens to be a fellow Star Wars geek! Believe it or not, OSWCC is turning into a successful dating service. Sadly, the only female in the club now being married, the dating service aspect will probably die down for a while...

But that's besides the point! toasty's hitched and enjoying his honeymoon down in Vegas this week. (I'll post a scan of the post card I'm sure to receive in the coming days) So join the rest of us at CreatureCantina.com in congratulating him and his new bride! Have fun in Vegas you guys... and don't go blowing your entire Vintage collecting fund on the slots!!

Maybe this week's comic will also inspire!
Posted by: Bill Cable 06.09.04 12:01am
I was given another break from having to use my brain for this week's comic strip. The idea was sent in by Andy Greenwood... eliminating any need for me to think for myself. And it was a good idea, too... about the Jedi whose lightsaber says "Bad MotherF%$#er" on it. I know in the Star Wars continuity that Mace was long dead before Luke stepped into Chalmun's Cantina, but when an idea's this good you can fudge on the continuity a little bit, can't you? Judge for yourself when you read this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

"The Cantina" inspires creativity!

New Cable Original Artwork!!!!
Posted by: Bill Cable 06.09.04 12:01am
I know it's been a long time since I've added anything to the Cable Original gallery. It's been 80% lack of inspiration, 10% lack of time, and 10% doing other art (more of which will be added to the Cable Original gallery over the course of the next couple weeks). Plus somebody keeps bugging me to work on my next custom Droids figure...

Anyway... after too long a wait I'm finally ready to reveal my latest Cable Original. This drawing has a long and sordid history. Zam Wessel was commissioned about a year ago as part of a two-drawing set with Jango Fett. The patron wanted a particular "scene"... Zam & Jango surrounded by thugs in a brawl. I sent the finished art, and the patron was very happy with the Jango, but not exactly thrilled with the Zam. And I'll admit, the art was a little unconventional and a bit awkward (see the old version for yourself here). So I upheld my satisfaction guarantee, and offered a re-tooled drawing. I penciled a brand new version and sent the patron a scan of the new art. He made some suggestions. I resubmitted more pencils, exactly what he asked for. And I never heard from him again. I E-mailed him a dozen times. I used E-mail addresses I knew he was checking... he was updating his web site regularly... he just cut off contact. So I applied the deposit he paid for the Zam to the balance due on the Jango and that was the end of it.

But what to do with Zam now? Well, I drew a brand new version of Zam, based on my own vision this time, and donated it to the PSWCS Summer Social prize pool. The art's been done for more than a month, I've just been sitting on it until I could reveal it at the Social. And now that that's done, I'm ready to reveal it in the "Cable Original" Star Wars Art Gallery!!!

Congratulations Jedi Tronzo!!!
Posted by: Bill Cable 06.09.04 12:01am
Last week it was a wedding. This week's it's a birthday! Actually, the birthday was Saturday, June 5th, and the birth was Tronzo's son Connor. Congrats go out to Tronzo and his wife Shannon. How big a Star Wars fan is Tronzo? Well, his son was born at 7am. He left the hospital at 9am to attend the PSWCS Summer Social. And his wife was understanding enough not to condemn him to the depths of hell for the duration of their marriage. But Tronzo will pay for this... I assure you. He'll pay for it right now! Look what 30 hours without sleep will do to a guy at the PSWCS Summer Social...

... I am your Father!
Posted by: Jedi Tronzo 06.09.04 12:01am
Introducing the newest member of the PSWCS. Connor Tronzo. Born 6/5/04 at 7:09 am. The same day as the 4th Annual Pennsylvania Star Wars Collecting Society Summer Social.

His collecting interests are the Star Wars Play-Skool line, vintage SW board games and both vintage and new Star Wars coloring books and children's books. Connor's favorite Star Wars item is his vintage Darth Vader night-light.

And he already knows what website sucks...

Follow-Up To Cable's Tale of "Stupid F%&$ING Morons!"
Posted by: Durge 06.16.04 12:01am
Recently an AFA graded uncirculated Han Solo OTC rehash figure was sold by Cloud City for more than 800 dollars. This week, Cloud City has put up a new set of auctions featuring more AFA graded OTC figures. The most interesting of the new lot of items is a listing for 10 AFA graded Han Solo figures, all for the bargain price of $35.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5903378548

"NeoToys" must feel like a really stupid f%&$ing moron, more so than ever, now that his figure has dropped more than 100% in value.

The lesson kids? AFA SUCKS, NeoToys is a dumbass, and Cloud City is the most ingenious bunch I've ever come across.

Top 10 Reasons why Baldy has no good update material AGAIN:
Posted by: Baldy 06.16.04 12:01am

  1. He hates his job.
  2. His last interviewee left him in the lurch.
  3. Durge's newfound ability to write paragraphs scares him.
  4. He is saving money for a lobotomy. (That means he wants to add those headphones like Lobot to his head)
  5. Time is money and CC.com don't pay well.
  6. The Pr0n business is down.
  7. His brain is retiring faster than expected.
  8. Jawas stole his laptop.
  9. Star Wars is just getting silly for a grown man to actually collect.
  10. Bill Cable is an evil taskmaster who gives Baldy no time or room for creative flow.

Marblehead's News of the Weird

She's Only Seventeen
The last few weeks have brought untold hours of sexual pleasure to all Geonosian warriors. The return of the seventeen year, Brood X cicada in parts of Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Virginia, Michigan, Maryland, Pennsylvania and other northern/northeastern states has brought hundreds of thousands of the bug planet warriors to these areas of the United States of America. With an estimated 5 billion cicadas in the Cincinnati, OH area alone the Geonosians have been guaranteed an easy ticket to paradise.

The svelte Geonosian's are well known for their admiration of full figures. The female cicada, with her dreamy crimson eyes and plump rear are all too eager to accept the affection of any advancing male. One Geonosian was overheard singing to '80's wonder Winger, "She may be too young but she's old enough for me!"

The interstellar travelers have brought a boom to the economies as well. Unfortunately, it all comes to an end as quickly as it came to head. These seventeen year old hotties are only around for four weeks. With their first emergence in mid-June, the end is drawing near. Last minute Geonosians have been finding it more difficult to locate the remaining virgins. The traveling Brood X brothel will not return for another 17 years, in year 2021.

In a related story, divorce rates on Geonosis are expected to rise over the following months.

Revelations
The Four Taun-Taun's of the Apocalypse is a simple way to sum up the entire Star Wars story. War. Famine. Conquest. Death. For this reason George Lucas was cautious not to feature more than 2 or 3 Taun-Taun's in any given scene. One reason to the deletion of the infamous 2-1B and Taun-Taun act.

SEXY New "Cable Original!!!"
Posted by: Bill Cable 06.23.04 12:01am
OK... the rumors are true. I'm cheap. I'm a penny-pinching tightwad. I'll drive across town to buy a DVD for $2 cheaper at Best Buy. I scavenge eBay for hours every day to find nice Vintage MOC figures at below-market prices. I haggle, hem and haw when buying figures from both friends and strangers. I've taken the "thrifty" part of the Scout Law to the extreme. And it fills me with euphoria every time I save a good amount of money.

Take for example, my recent invitation to toasty's nuptials. Good manners dictate that you send a gift any time you're invited to a wedding, whether you attend or not. So what's a miser like me to do? Trek on out to Bed, Bath & Beyond and buy some corn holders? Nah... I wanted to hook my buddy and his wife up with something spiffy for corn holder money. So I broke out my pen and inkwell and created a Cable Original drawing as my gift to them. They responded, and I quote... "We were very surprised, and we both love it!" Another satisfied customer, and it didn't cost me anything but my time. Check out the art they love in the "Cable Original" Star Wars Art Gallery!!!

And now for your comic...

Hello fellow collectors and welcome to another Meet and Greet. This week I give you one of the longest running jokes...... er... I mean longest member, no wait..... dammit, it's Daddysnaggle. There I said it.

Baldy: Whats your name?
DS: My name is John, but it's pronounced "William", so I generally just call myself Susan. But don't tell my wife that, because she still thinks my name is Lumpy.

Baldy: What is your favorite car/truck?
DS: Without question, the Acura NSX. I've been wanting to steal.....er.....BUY one of those since I was 18.

Baldy: Are you married?
DS: Sho' nuff. Coming up on my 6-year anniversary, as a matter of fact.

Baldy: Good for you! Always nice to hear that geeks can get hitched too. How long have you been into collecting, SW or otherwise?
DS: I started collecting modern SW stuff in 1996, then got into vintage in 1997. I actually "quit" collecting in April of 2003, but in July, I got back into SW, as well as took up my Alien collection, which you can see at www.8thpassenger.com .

I'll tell you how... with the biggest damn GPD comic you've ever seen! How big is it? It's so big that We couldn't do it in one strip. Readers would have just gotten through the first 20 pages and just putter out... "When is this thing going to end???" So what are we going to do with it? We're releasing it in THREE PARTS! That's right... every Wednesday for three weeks we're going to release a new segment of the first episode of Season 2. Are you ready for that much GPD action? Then check out chapter 1 of Episode VII - BattleMania!!!!!!

Cantina Comic Strip WEEKLY COMIC!!!
Posted by: Bill Cable 07.07.04 12:01am
It looks like my comic is not only inspiring random photo gags, it's inspiring custom action figures! I don't know if I should be flattered, or if I should start getting scared I'm attracting stalkers. In either case, the Cantina train rolls on! Check out this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

Cantina Comic Strip ACTION FIGURES!!!
Posted by: Bill Cable 07.07.04 12:01am
Beedo Sookcool presents new Creature Cantina action figures! Yes, now your Mos Eisley Cantina dioramas will be complete, and your favourite barflies will have the company of the weird and wonderful cameo characters that appear in Bill Cable's hilarious weekly comic strip, "The Cantina"! Currently in development are:

  • Glip, from People for the Ethical Treatment of Aliens
  • Mynock-Man, defender of unattended drinks
  • Oznemoc, the downtrodden Ugnaught dogsbody

The first figure in the series, Glip, is seen here in final form, along with a screen shot for reference. He's fully articulated, comes with a protest sign and electrobinoculars, and he's ready to kick the living poodoo out of your Jorg Sacul figure! (Sold separately)

Look for more updates in the Creature Cantina action figure line coming whenever I can find the bloody time. Already the rumor mill is churning out possible future appearances, including:

  • Chalmun, the Wookiee cantina owner
  • Forgetful Sandtrooper Captain (minus his codpiece)
  • Santa Wuher

...But don't bet the moisture farm on it.

GPD: BattleMania Part 2!!!
Posted by: Steve "Solo" Rensi 07.07.04 12:01am
The first rule of BattleMania is that you don't talk about BattleMania. The next rules of BattleMania... well, they're a big mish-mash of WWE jargon and Mortal Kombat fatalities. I can't make heads or tails out of it either.

Last week we published the first part of BattleMania. This week we publish the second. And next week we'll publish the final segment. This week, it's dead Jedi all over the place! Enjoy the carnage in Episode VII, chapter 2: BattleMania!!!!

The slow death of a SuperCollector...
Posted by: Bill Cable 07.07.04 12:01am
I've seen the pattern repeat itself over an over. A guy starts out collecting POTF2. Then he picks up a few loose Vintage figures. Then he moves to carded Vintage. After putting together a very impressive MOC collection, he delves into prototypes. After his 4th Rocket Fett, when he's reached the pinnacle of collecting, it all starts to get boring. So he starts to slow down. Then he starts to sell some of the less interesting pieces in his collection. Then he gets out completely.

Noted SuperCollector Chris Fawcett is in that next-to-last stage in his collecting life. And you... yes YOU... could be the beneficiary!!! Fawcett has a very nice selection of very nice MOC figures from Star Wars to Jedi, along with a nice MIB Sandcrawler and some other random stuff. Some highlights:

That's only a small sample of the 45 fantastic items Fawcett has ending Saturday night. We're talking high-grade MOC out the wazoo! And with prices on Vintage MOC being uncharacteristically low of late, it is the ideal time to try for a great bargain! I'll be shooting for a couple of them myself, so don't go bidding on those. But as for the rest of them... have at it! Send out Mr. Fawcett in style!!!

Help me! Bill's kept me locked in a little box under the stairs for 6 months now! He only let's me out to force me to make Quick Shots! I smell like Ted Nugent, for God's sake! I have to type quickly while he's taking a whiz before he comes back and beats me with a 12 inch 3-PO doll! Call the police!

A "Cable Original" for a Friend
Posted by: Bill Cable 07.07.04 12:01am
Welcome back art fans! It's that time again... time to reveal the latest "Cable Original" artwork! For this one, I was honored with the opportunity of working for a true friend and fellow CC.com associate. This masterpiece is for the one and only Sandy Rivers. It was an honor to do this for such a great guy, and he was genuinely touched by the completed work. He was so moved that he sent in his own impressions of the art for this write-up...

<insert Sandy's comments here>

I tell you, my soul was warmed after reading those wonderful comments about my art. It's always a joy to bring beauty into someone's life in such a way that it inspires such a reaction.

And I hope you will have a similar reaction. So please, check out the latest addition to the "Cable Original" Star Wars Art Gallery!!!

It's not like that at all. He's my brother.

I'm honored to count among the fans of my web site my own brother. I'm not sure exactly how often he checks it, or if he thinks it SUCKS or not, or if he's just archiving my crimes to blackmail me later. But I do know he's enough of a fan to send in another suggestion for my weekly comic strip. Skywalker family antics abound in this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

Beauty, and way too much talent.
Posted by: Bill Cable 07.14.04 12:01am
Last week I was Googling out of boredom, and came across a very talented young woman. She's a costumer... and one of her many creations was this fantastic Padme outfit from Geonosis:

You can check out a dozen more shots of her costume on her web site:

http://www.cosplayangel.com/costumes-padme.html

As you can see... quality work! And the girl certainly has the looks to pull that costume off. But putting together a white Padme costume - not a big accomplishment; and certainly not worthy of a mention on a site as respected as CreatureCantina.com. What sets this girl apart is what you'll find on the rest of her site... something like 50 other Manga, Anime and video game girl costumes! Now that's dedication and talent. If only she'd do a few more Padmes... or maybe a Slave Leia. One can only hope...

GPD: BattleMania FINALE!!!
Posted by: Steve "Solo" Rensi 07.14.04 12:01am
The end is upon us! But this armageddon isn't going to be fought on a mountain in the Middle East... this one is fought in the Pepsi Coliseum! This week we conclude the epic first Episode of Season Two of Galactic Postal Delivery with a rip-roaring, all out, no-holds-barred bare-knuckle brawl!

So who's ready for 8 pages of Chewie and Han doing wrestling moves???!!

Episode VII - BattleMania FINALE!!!!!!

Baldy's Meet & Greet!
Posted by: Baldy 07.14.04 12:01am
Meet and Greet presents yet another wonderful look at a fellow collector who might not be on the regular radar. This gentleman has been around for years and has quite the collection going but most of you probably have no idea who he is. Mainly because he collects earwax and toenails. BUT he likes Star Wars too so say hello to Jjax!

Baldy: What's your name?
JJ: Jay Sant Juan JJax JoeyS Santwan, Jr III

Baldy: How long have you been collecting?
JJ: As of this date, July 11th 2004: 13 years, 7 months, 11 days, 6 hours. Give or take 30 seconds.

Baldy: What/who got you started?
JJ: Getting the 1987 box set Trilogy for Xmas in 90, then a trip to the local swapmeet to look for a vintage falcon, then 2 years hanging with a dealer building a collection.

Baldy: Can you quit anytime soon?
JJ: Of course, I could die anytime.

A comic idea by Sandy Rivers
Posted by: Bill Cable 07.21.04 12:01am
Sandy couldn't churn out another of his "Quick Shot" images for this week, but he did contribute! This week's comic strip was inspired by one of his ideas... an idea he couldn't figure out how to craft into a Quick Shot. But it was an ideal idea for a 3-panel comic, like this week's "The Cantina" Comic Strip!!!!

DCSWCC member wins "The Cantina" Comic Art
Posted by: Bill Cable 07.21.04 12:01am
Who says CreatureCantina.com is nothing but a pox on this hobby?? We're not only selfish, greedy bastards. From time to time we actually support our favorite collecting clubs... like last week in Washington DC. The DCSWCC held their Summer Social on Saturday, and among the prizes was a donation from yours truly of some original "The Cantina" comic strip artwork. The winner of the artwork was... this guy!

Congratulations to this guy. He's holding a print-out of the comic strip, not the actual artwork (I sent the print out along in case he wanted to frame the art). Be on the look-out for future donations of CreatureCantina.com swag at other major gatherings of geeks (or is that other gatherings of major geeks).
